The Veterans History Project is an effort by the Library
of Congress to collect and preserve the stories and accounts of
American soldiers regarding their wartime experiences.
This project relies on volunteers to help collect
information and provide it to the Library of Congress. This effort
provides an an
excellent opportunity for teachers and students to work directly with
veterans in order to help capture these accounts, either as part of units on
American history or as a service learning project. The Library of
Congress provides an online Project Kit that can either be downloaded or
ordered.
Veterans and their families can also use the following
link to the Library of Congress to individually download or order
a copy of the Project Kit.
